John Malkovich Musical / play Live at Southam Hall at National Arts Centre | Ottawa – October 10th, 2026

Southam Hall at the National Arts Centre is one of those places that really sticks with you, whether you’re catching a stirring NAC Orchestra performance or soaking in the vibe during the annual International Music Festival. The acoustics here are something else, making every note feel intimate, even when the hall is packed with eager listeners. I remember attending a 2014 Gala where the orchestra played alongside jazz legend Lang, and honestly, it gave me chills. The history runs deep too; in 2002, they hosted a memorable centennial tribute to Stravinsky that still lingers in my mind. The Mezzanine Balcony offers a peaceful spot to take it all in, and the Balcony Boxes are perfect for a more personal, up-close experience, kind of like having your own private concert. Named after the generous Southam family, whose support helped shape Canada’s arts scene, the hall’s interior with its grand steps leading to the central space adds to its regal charm. Seeing John Malkovich Ottawa there feels like stepping into an arts-rich world that’s both inspiring and a little magical.
